“Lord, open my eyes.”

Hundreds of you prayed those four words under one of our videos. Many prayed them in a quiet house, next to someone who feels like a stranger. Some of you are tired of being both people in your marriage. Some are afraid that if you see clearly, you’ll lose God too.

Asking is not a sin. Seeing clearly is not rebellion.

Before anything else: are you safe right now?

You don’t need to download anything, or give an email, to get this help.

National Domestic Violence Hotline (US): call 1-800-799-7233, text START to 88788, or visit thehotline.org. 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988). 911 in an emergency. Outside the US: findahelpline.com. Abuse is not God’s design for marriage, and no one is required to stay in danger.

Leaving to be safe is not a sin under any of the main Christian views of marriage. You don’t have to decide anything about your marriage to make that call.

Seven quiet days with God

Lord, Open My Eyes is a 7-day prayer and discernment guide for husbands and wives carrying a marriage alone. Each day gives you one verse, one honest thought, one prayer, one question and one small step, in ten or fifteen quiet minutes.

It will not tell you to leave. It will not tell you to stay no matter what. And on Day 7, you won’t be asked to decide anything. It walks with you, so you can pray, see clearly and find people who can help in person.

Inside, you’ll discover

  • A private “Am I Safe Right Now?” check on page 1, with help lines for the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, South Africa and the EU
  • Day 1, Lord, Open My Eyes: one honest sentence about your marriage, on paper, for your eyes only
  • Day 2, The God Who Sees You: what Hagar learned in the wilderness about the God who sees
  • Day 3, Calling Things by Their True Names: three kinds of hard marriage, and why they need very different help
  • Day 4, Courage to Tell One Person: how to choose someone safe and wise, and what to say first
  • Day 5, Wisdom Takes a Season: four ordinary tools for wisdom (Scripture, counsel, time and fruit), and how to test a dream or a sign
  • Day 6, Forgiveness Is Not the Same as Going Back: forgiveness, reconciliation and trust, untangled
  • Day 7, Lord, Rebuild Me: God’s peace now, before your marriage question is answered
  • The four main Christian views, in brief, each set out fairly with its verses
  • When to get more help, listed in plain words by situation

What you’ll get

A note from the author

Under one video, hundreds of you typed “Lord, open my eyes.” This guide is built around that prayer, and the three that came with it: Lord, give me clarity and courage. Lord, guide my steps into peace. Lord, rebuild me with your peace.

It will not tell you to leave, and it will not tell you to stay no matter what. It puts your safety first and walks with you for seven quiet days. God is not offended when you ask Him to open your eyes.

Questions you might have

Is my purchase private?

Your receipt and download link go to the email you enter at checkout. If someone else can see your inbox, please use an address only you can open.

Will it tell me whether to divorce?

No. It helps you pray, see clearly and find wise people to walk with you. It is not a divorce guide, and it is not legal advice or counseling.

Is it explicit?

No. Hard things are named plainly, but nothing is graphic.

Is it a physical book? Can I print it?

It’s a PDF you download instantly, and it’s yours to print.

What if I’m in danger right now?

Please don’t wait for a guide. Call 911 in an emergency, or the National Domestic Violence Hotline (US) at 1-800-799-7233, text START to 88788, or visit thehotline.org.
