Networking Foundations for Security is a free, beginner-friendly Obsidian mini-course that helps you understand how your Ubuntu Server lab communicates—before you try to secure, monitor, or troubleshoot it.

You’ll learn how to:

• Read IPv4 addresses, CIDR notation, subnets, gateways, and private ranges
• Understand DNS, HTTPS, routing, and NAT
• Use safe Linux networking commands to inspect addresses, routes, name resolution, and local listeners
• Build a simple network baseline for your Ubuntu VM
• Troubleshoot connectivity problems without changing everything at once
• Document useful, non-sensitive network evidence
