In the Bhagavad Gita, a steady mind is compared to a lamp in a windless place, its flame burning still and bright. This free sample is a chance to try that idea on paper: four mandalas to colour, each with a mindful quote to hold while the colours go in.

The pages come from the two books of A Lamp in a Windless Place, which pair original mandalas with short passages of wisdom from the great contemplative traditions.

Inside

  • Two pages from Book One (★★): a star mandala with a verse from the Bhagavad Gita, and a Tibetan-style palace mandala with lines from Rabindranath Tagore.
  • Two pages from Book Two (★★★★): a radiant sunburst with words from the Buddha's Dhammapada, and a detailed palace mandala with the reflection "Colour by colour, the mind settles."
  • Crisp vector line art, sharp on any home printer.
  • A look at both full books, with links to the shop.

Free to share: this sample may be printed, copied and passed on to friends, family and classes, as long as it's shared whole, unchanged and free of charge.

Format: instant PDF download, 8 pages including 4 colouring pages. A4, and it also prints well on US Letter with "fit to page".

The full books: each book holds 40 mandalas in a range of styles: lotus and flower designs, Tibetan-style palaces with four gates, stars, geometric patterns and sunbursts. Book One (★★) offers bolder shapes for relaxed colouring, and Book Two (★★★★) offers intricate designs for deeper focus. Both are available on their own or together as a bundle at a reduced price.
