Ray in Space
Ray in Space
Something fell from space. Something else rose from us.
When an alien ship disintegrates over San Francisco, three beings vanish into people’s swimming pools. Ray beams down to retrieve them and save his lover, Vikki. But Earth is changing them. Their bodies, memories, loyalties, and desires begin to drift under pressures no one fully understands.
What begins as a rescue mission becomes a cosmic-noir odyssey through San Francisco, covert surveillance, supernatural mutation, military panic, alien longing, and the oldest mystery of all: what love becomes when the self itself begins to transform.
Ray in Space is science fiction with a noir pulse: cinematic, strange, emotional, darkly funny, and alive with the question of what remains human when the universe comes too close.
Background
Ray in Space began as an award-winning screenplay and has now been expanded into a full-length novel by John Anthony Celona. The story carries its film origins in its momentum and imagery, but the novel opens the interior world: Ray’s grief and desire, Vikki’s transformation, Crosby’s pursuit, and the vast intelligence pressing against human reality.
This is a story of alien rescue, earthly contamination, romantic devotion, state paranoia, and cosmic trespass. It moves from swimming pools to starships, from San Francisco streets to the dark architecture of space, from noir pursuit to existential revelation.
