Named checks give one status on every sheet: OK, CHECK (n) or SAMPLE. Dates show as 5 Oct 2026 everywhere, so a day and month typed the wrong way round is easy to spot.

Sheets are protected without a password, so formulas aren't overwritten by accident. No macros, no external links, no hidden sheets.

Setup and each week

Type your balance, add your unpaid invoices and your bills: about 5 minutes, plus about 1 minute per row. Each week after that, about 5 minutes: update the balance, mark what was paid, add anything new, and work down Needs attention.

The worked example is a fictional designer with US$8,450 in the bank on 5 Oct 2026. It shows US$4,200 coming in over the next 4 weeks, US$2,750 overdue, US$762.50 to set aside for tax at 25%, US$312.50 safe to spend, and 7.8 weeks of bills covered. Clear it in three steps to start your own.

Not for you if

• You need bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll, bank reconciliation or tax returns.

• You hold money in several currencies and need each one tracked.

• You want payments and balances to arrive automatically from your bank or other software.

• You need reminders sent to you. The workbook shows what needs action only when you open it.

Known limitations

• It is a money view, not accounting. Figures come from what you type, not from your bank.

• One currency per file. Convert money in other currencies before you type it.

• Tax set-aside is a rate you choose, applied to payments received. It is not a tax calculation or tax advice.

• A repeating row assumes every payment before today was made. If one was missed, add it as its own row.

• It can't remind you. Dates move only while the file is open, so set a weekly calendar reminder to open it.

• Tested in Excel 365 for Windows desktop. Mac, Excel for the web and the Google Sheets edition are not yet tested.

• Excel mobile and the Google Sheets mobile apps are for viewing only, not data entry.

• Capacity is 500 rows on the Money sheet; more needs the steps in the Guide.
