A SMALL TASTE OF CALIFORNIA DREAMIN' AND CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN'
IN CONVERSATION WITH KIM FOWLEY
First published August 2000
"The Howard Hughes Of Rock And Roll" is one of many epithets used to describe Californian Kim Fowley whose involvement in American pop music history is legendary. This book, presented in conversational form, attempts to offer some insight into Fowley's early '60s music career.
In his "unbiased" and uninhibited style, Fowley not only waxes lyrical about these musical dabblings, but also offers a very original and self-satisfying view of his own career and his motivations.
This book was originally based on an interview I undertook with Fowley during the research for my two volume set on Jan & Dean. However, so extensive was the interview, due to Fowley going off on various tangents, that after SIX hours I had enough information for another book!
The original book featured all of this interview. However for the PDF version, I have also added two other interviews I enjoyed with Fowley, one in September 2000 and my very first with Fowley from August 1985.
This PDF version also includes many photos (black & White and colour) and extensive discographical notes.
