Frequencies it works with
Five frequencies chosen not for harmony in the conventional sense, but for range — for the way they spread across the full spectrum of human hearing and, in doing so, make the listening space feel larger than it was before the sound began.
55 Hz — the ancient root. The didgeridoo's fundamental, the body's lowest singing note, the frequency that indigenous traditions around the world arrived at independently through instruments built from hollow wood and bone. It does not ask the body to listen. It asks it to remember.
174 Hz — the foundation of the Solfeggio scale, the deepest of the sacred tones. Solid and unmoving in the way that bedrock is unmoving — not rigid, but simply beyond the reach of whatever is disturbing the surface. It gives the arrangement its ground without anchoring it in place.
528 Hz — warm and bright, arriving in the middle of the structure like a door opening onto a larger room. The frequency most associated with a sense of interior opening — not forced, not manufactured, simply available. The body tends to soften around it before the mind has formed an opinion.
1,674 Hz — fine attention in the upper presence range. Focused without being tense. The quality of a gaze that has relaxed its effort and, in doing so, can suddenly see further. It keeps the arrangement precise and awake even as the lower frequencies invite release.
5,313 Hz — barely an announcement. So close to pure air that it hovers at the edge of perception rather than occupying it, the way a room seems to expand around you when you finally exhale fully and realize how much space was always there. It does not arrive. It was already present. You simply became available to it.
Together these frequencies do not push. They simply make more space.

When to listen
- When you feel contracted — physically, emotionally, or mentally. When the self has become too small a room to live in comfortably and you need to remember that it has no fixed walls.
- When the day has been one of compression — too many demands arriving from too many directions, the field of awareness narrowing with each hour until by evening the world has shrunk to the size of the problem directly in front of you. This is not a failure of resilience. It is what sustained focus does to the sense of scale. What is needed is not more effort but a genuine experience of the larger container — the one that was always there, behind the narrowing.
- When anxiety has made the body feel small and tight — when the chest is braced, the shoulders are held, the breath is shallow and high, and the self has retreated to its most defended perimeter. Contraction is the nervous system's oldest response to threat, and it is entirely appropriate when the threat is real. But the body sometimes forgets to release it when the threat has passed, and goes on living inside walls it built for an emergency that ended. This frequency arrangement is a quiet invitation to notice that the emergency is over, and that there is more room than the body is currently using.
- When creative or intellectual work has narrowed to a single track and the wider field of possibility has become invisible. When a relationship has contracted around a single point of difficulty and you have temporarily forgotten all the space that surrounds it. When the identity itself has grown rigid — when you have been performing a version of yourself for long enough that you have started to mistake the performance for the whole.
- When expansion feels unfamiliar or even slightly threatening. This arrangement is particularly useful in those moments — not because it overrides the caution, but because it offers expansion as a gradual, physical experience rather than an idea, and the body tends to accept what it can feel more readily than what it is told.
How to listen
Headphones or a good speaker in a room where you feel comfortable.
As the listening deepens, you may notice the sense of where you end and the room begins becoming less defined. This is not disorientation. It is the specific quality this arrangement is designed to produce — the felt experience of taking up more space than the body technically occupies, of the self extending past its usual perimeter without losing its center. If that feeling arises, simply allow it. If it feels unfamiliar, simply notice it without needing it to be anything in particular.
Stay as long as you need — your system knows how long it wants to be here.
How it works
55 Hz opens the body at its lowest register — the frequency of the didgeridoo, of the earth's own voice in certain geological formations, of the throat at its most released and resonant. It does not create expansion so much as remove the unconscious muscular holding that prevents it. The body, meeting a frequency this familiar and this ancient, tends to stop bracing.
174 Hz adds foundation without weight — the Solfeggio base tone, present in sacred traditions across cultures as the frequency beneath all other frequencies, the ground that makes the higher tones possible. With 55 Hz already holding the floor, 174 Hz creates a second layer of solidity that allows everything above it to move freely.
528 Hz is where the opening becomes perceptible. It sits in the range where the voice carries its most resonant harmonics, and the body responds to it partly as it responds to voice — with a subtle orientation toward the source, a lowering of the nervous system's vigilance, a quality of attention that is receptive rather than defensive. The warmth in this frequency is not metaphorical. The body experiences it as warmth.
1,674 Hz keeps the awareness clear and present as the lower frequencies soften the body's edges. Without it, the arrangement might drift toward passivity — a pleasant dissolution without the quality of awake attention that makes the experience genuinely expansive rather than simply relaxing. It is the frequency of precise perception, and it remains active throughout.
5,313 Hz completes the structure by extending it past the point of definition. At this height the tone is so close to the upper limit of comfortable perception that the ear cannot fully locate it — it seems to come from everywhere and nowhere, which is another way of saying it seems to come from the space itself rather than from the speakers. That spatial quality is not an artifact. It is the experience of hearing functioning at the edge of its range, where the boundary between the sound and the silence around it becomes, for a moment, negotiable.

3 affirmations you can use with it
Speak them from as much space as you can find inside the body. Let each one be larger than the last.
- I am not the walls I built during hard times. I am everything inside them and beyond them.
- My edges are not fixed. I am allowed to take up more space than I have been given permission to occupy.
- I am vast. This is not a hope. This is what I am when I stop contracting around what frightened me.
