Montana is a simple and colorful cowl. I made it after watching the Yellowstone series and it was inspired by gorgeous Indian motifs, presented in the show.

The cowl is worked seamlessly in the round, from the bottom to top.

Circumference 60cm / 24 ”.

Height: 32.5cm / 13 ”.

Yarn

To make the cowl, you’ll need about 270m/297y of heavy DK or Worsted weight yarn, divided into 4 colors as follows:

C1 – 130m/143y; C2 – 80m/88y; C3 – 40m/44y; C4 - 20m/22y.

Note: The yardage is estimated.

Sample cowl was made with Gabo Wool “Kroopa Wool”

(100% Wool; 100m / 109y per 50g).

Needles & Notions

5mm / US #8 circular needles for magic-loop or DPNS, or size needed to get the proper gauge;

4mm / US #6 circular needles for magic-loop or DPNS, or two sizes smaller than the gauge needles;

4.5mm / US #7 circular needles for magic-loop or DPNS, or one size smaller than the gauge needles;

stitch marker;

tapestry needle for weaving ends.

Gauge

21 sts and 32 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 “ - in 1x1 rib pattern worked with 4mm / US #6 needles; after wet blocking.

21 sts and 24 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 “ - in stranded colorwork with 5mm / US #8 needles, after wet blocking.
