This is a 40 page collection of exercises I have tested in my own ESL classroom at the university. These exercises have proven to increase writing fluency and confidence in the ELL and ESL classroom.
The lessons focus on key grammar skills that are frequently used in academic and professional settings. They are designed to give students a firm grasp of how and why certain forms are used, as well as lots of practice to ensure retention and retrieval when needed for future writing.
Some of the skills include "gerunds as a subject" and "reported speech." The included lessons can span 2 to 4 weeks depending on the length of your class each day. The key is to take your time with each exercise and explore tha language with your class. Let them consider each item and ask questions. I often give leading questions to encourage them to analyze the grammar and writing.
