Offgrid Sampler

Offgrid Sampler: Stem Sampler (v0.1.4)

Drop in a song, split it into stems, and play 16 slices from your keyboard. Offgrid Sampler is a VST3 and standalone sampler in black and yellow with the Offgrid logo. It splits any track into vocals, drums, piano and bass inside the plugin, then lets you chop and play it.

Stem separation

• Uses Demucs v4 (6-stem) on your own CPU, with no cloud and no upload.
• Gives you four stems: Vocals, Drums, Piano and Bass.
• Select any combination of stems, and they are layered on one waveform, like Serato Sample.
• Cards stay grey until the stems are ready, and a banner shows progress. Results are cached, so a song only separates once.
• You can also load your own stems with LOAD STEMS.

Slicing and timing

• Detects the tempo and beat grid automatically.
• AUTO-SLICE has three modes: transient, beat and bar.
• The RANDOM button creates a new set of random chops on the beat grid every time.
• Quantize has an on/off switch and a strength control.

Playing

• 16 slices sit on 16 keys, from middle C (MIDI 60) to E♭ (MIDI 75).
• Slice flags on the waveform show the note names.
• Each slice has volume, pitch (no time change) and reverse.
• It has a built-in transport with loop, a master volume, and EXPORT for the stems.

Formats and setup

• Windows VST3 (works in FL Studio) and a standalone .exe.
• The first run needs a one-time 258 MB model download, using the GET MODEL button.
• Settings and slices are saved with your project.

Where it stands

• The Windows build runs on your PC. Your log shows a full separation finishing, and 0.1.4 is installed.
• 0.1.4 speed on your PC isn't confirmed yet.
• The Mac build and the automatic GitHub builds have never been run.
• I haven't measured separation quality on real music.
