Hurrah for the coming of Spring!! I think we all need a little boost right now…what could be better than meeting a friend in the park for a cup of coffee, or even a picnic? Let’s be honest though, it’s still pretty chilly so you’ll need to wrap up warm.

Enter the Pink Picnic Mitts - perfect for nibbling on snacks while you enjoy a socially distanced chat. They’re also great for cold-weather running, driving in chilly cars and outdoor phone usage. Best of all, you can knit the small and medium sizes with just 50g or less of DK or light worsted weight yarn. You will whip these up in a flash!

Travelling twisted ribs and eyelets adorn these classy mitts. The thumb gusset has increases on the central line, to add a bit of bias interest. Why not knit the twisted cuffs extra long for added coziness, or try contrast colours for the ribbed sections?

Construction
These mitts are knit in the round, from the bottom up. Knitting begins with a twisted rib cuff. The main section is worked with a cable panel on the back of the hand, and an integrated thumb gusset. Stitches are held for the thumb, and knitting continues for the top of the hand, ending with a twisted rib edging. Stitches are returned to the needle and the thumb is completed in the round, with a twisted rib edging.
