Finding the Names — Installment 83 (Roll 10, 1845) — FREE

Installment 83 of Finding the Names continues Roll 10 — New Orleans Inward Manifests, 1844–1845 (National Archives Microfilm Publication M1895, Roll 10, NAID 173900399), images 601–720: 819 people on 63 manifests, transcribed name by name from the original records at the National Archives. The project now stands at 54,043 entries.

Inside: the brig Victorine's May sailing from Baltimore is completed — Slatter's 41 and Rodbird's 23 join Donovan's 27 from Installment 82, a clerk's pencil tally reading "41 / 23 / 27 / 91," while the Baltimore collector's certificate for Rodbird's filing says "28 in number" against the table's 23; both papers are printed as they stand. The brig Kirkwood's 79-man manifest was photographed across two overlapping sheets, its second sheet opening on a boy entered in full as Chief Justice Marshall. On the schooner Home, Romeo, 6, and Della, 4, were relanded at St. Marks and found "not on Board" at New Orleans. The barque Paoli landed 62 against her certificate's 61 — one born on the passage, named nowhere. And Captain Wilson shipped his own servants, Reuben and Harry, on three sailings of the schooner Star, their ages climbing five years between filings.
