MAJOR MATERIALS USED IN ROLLING TECHNOLOGY

The principal materials processed in rolling technology are steels. However, rolling technology also relies on other metallic materials used for mill machinery, such as mill stands and transport systems, tools such as rolls, auxiliary components such as tackle and fixtures, and other elements. For this reason, this section briefly covers not only steels as rolled materials, but also the broader class of engineering metallic materials that support the rolling process.

Materials used for rolling mill rolls will be treated in detail in a separate module.
