This Spring Flower Craft and Write pairs a hands-on spring flower craft with fiction and non-fiction writing. Students follow a tutorial to make the craft, then choose from a range of cut-and-glue elements to give their flower their own artistic touch, so every design turns out different.

After the craft, students write about it using planning pages, writing prompts or blank writing pages, then finish with coloring, reflection and a 3 Stars and a Wish. With primary and intermediate templates included, it suits Grades 1 to 5. The crafts are inspired by the style of the Ms Artastic YouTube Channel.

HOW TO USE IT

Photocopy the craft elements and put a few out at each table so students can pick the ones they want. Save the unused pieces with the lesson plan for next year, which means less prep and less waste.

Students practice cross-curricular skills as they draw, build the craft and then write about what they made. The templates cover different skill levels, so you can run it as a quick activity or a more detailed project.
