The Greatest Rescue Mission in Universal History: Earth — Book One
THE GREATEST RESCUE MISSION IN UNIVERSAL HISTORY: EARTH
Book One of the Rescue Mission series
By Johnny J. Whitaker
They did not travel at the speed of thought. That was a story they told children so the dark between stars would feel shorter.
What they had was a ship that folded distance — and a captain who came out of the fold wrong.
Covenant-9 hits a world no map owned. Green enough to hurt the eyes. Water that moves without pipes. Animals that should have been pictures. Walking walls with tusks. Hunters with mouths full of knives. A crew that left home with star-coils and wakes up with a knife, a spark, and a stick.
Captain Oscar Jacobs takes the crash as his watch. He does not know if the coil failed, if a hand looked away, or if the jump tasted his own doubt. He carries the not-knowing anyway. Commander William Smith turns iron into orders. Chief Medical Officer Sarah Johnson steals lives back from a planet that does not know their names. William Franks teaches a star-crew how to be poor in the woods. DEXTER-1000 counts the living and refuses to forget the dead.
While the last lift-fields still hum, they cut stone the way later Earth will swear stone cannot be cut. Quiet beams. Blocks the size of cottages walked across a plateau. Pyramids stacked as mailboxes — geometry aimed at a door-star so a second ship might someday read the letter. Then flood, rust, disaster, and grandchildren who never saw a working plate eat the instruction manual. The stones stay. The tools do not.
Above the blue marble, a rescue fleet finally finishes the long mathematics.
They do not land.
Not yet.
What this book is
Book One of a planned trilogy. The crash. The first terrible years. Lost technology. Megaliths that later cranes will fail to move. A captain who will not put the blame down. A machine that sleeps under rock so it will not become a myth. A fleet already in the dark, waiting until the natives can stand the truth.
What this book is not
It is not a sermon.
It is not a history textbook.
It is not the landing.
The knock is Book Two and Book Three.
Who it is for
Readers who want dinosaurs in the tree line and pyramids still white.
Readers who like honor more than speeches.
Anyone who has looked at a stone no modern machine wants to lift and thought: somebody knew something we forgot.
Dedication
To my children — Brooke, Seth, and Xavier.
