Before January 2021, I was someone who created traditional vision boards every year. But since then, I've shifted my process. Now, I write one or more narrative visions annually. These written visions are deliberately crafted in the third person and intentionally engage my five senses—that's how I aim to engage my Reticular Activating System (RAS). (If you want to know more, you can look up the RAS in neuroscience literature, but simply put, it’s the reason why, when you buy a new car, you suddenly start seeing that same car everywhere. They were always there; you just weren't noticing them until your focus shifted.)

Through my continued vision exercises, the challenges of the COVID pandemic, and personal development work, I made a critical discovery: there are specific mindsets that either support or hinder every single one of my visions.

This is why I created these Mindset Routines—to actively build the subconscious thoughts that will support my movement toward my goals.

You might be asking, "What exactly are Mindsets?" I define them as the way I see and interpret events, conversations, and interactions in my life. They are programmed by my experiences with my family, culture, and society. With repeated circumstantial evidence and strong emotional ties, these mindsets become automatic.

I decided that I needed to intentionally reprogram these mindsets. This entire journal is dedicated to that core philosophy: I will MAKE MOVES, NOT EXCUSES.
