Continuing Education Course: Telehealth for Therapists: Interventions, Assessment, and Ethical Practice (3 CEs, 1 Ethics)
We have reached a point where mental health providers must have knowledge and skills to provide telehealth services. Although telehealth is an effective method for providing mental health services, it is essential that the provider have appropriate training and skills, as well as a thorough understanding of the legal and ethical requirements of this practice. Additionally, therapeutic skills for telehealth differ from in-person therapy.
This course provides information on the research behind telemental health, including how this aspect of our field has grown in recent years. It covers practical considerations and tools needed to set up your home office and provides you with the skills you need to transition your in-person interventions to the telehealth setting. Additionally, this course includes a thorough explanation for ethical practice for telehealth based on requirements by the American Psychological Association, National Association for Social Workers, American Counseling Association, and American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
As a bonus, you also get access to a presentation on ethical telehealth practice in New Zealand, with an explanation of the New Zealand Psychologists Board ethical guidelines for telehealth.
Upon completion of this course, participants will have the knowledge they need to practice telehealth in compliance with ethical and legal requirements. They will have the tools necessary to create a home telehealth office, with the information necessary to protect clients and provide best standards of care.
