THE CREATIVE CHALLENGE

Learners investigate how different pencil marks can represent:

• Lighthouse Walls: Hatching, shading and irregular marks to create the appearance of weathered surfaces.
• Rocks: Angular lines, cross-hatching and darker tones to suggest rough, uneven textures.
• Ocean Waves: Flowing contour lines, curved strokes and gentle shading to communicate movement.
• Architectural Details: Fine lines, repeated patterns and contrasting tones to create depth and definition.

Learners are encouraged to experiment with six mark-making techniques:
