The Tree, 2025 Embroidered Panel, Unframed
The Tree, 2025
Hand embroidered and applique of the Sycamore Gap tree, prior to it's unlawful felling in 2023.
Made using 100% recycled materials, including scrap fabric, waste embroidery thread and repurposed cotton calico. Words are from Heartwood by Robert MacFarlane, a poem of resistance, later sung by a collaboration of folk musicians (Karine Polwart, Julie Fowlis, Seckou Keita, Kris Drever, Rachel Newton, Beth Porter, Jim Molyneux) and available to listen to on the album Spell Songs
This embroidery is one of a kind, and sold here as a Pay As You Feel offering, with a minimum price as shown. Feel free to pay more if you can. 5% of the proceeds of the sale will be donated to Northumberland Wildlife Trust and Whittle Dene CIC respectively, who work tirelessly to protect and preserve a piece of ancient woodland that is very special to me and my little family.
