The Decision Room
Who designs what you call choice.
Mira Solano gets an invite that smells like citrus water and looks like hospitality, which is how a certain kind of room prefers to introduce itself. The people inside are not there to hear her. They are there to design the yes she will later describe as her own. While a night nurse works a twelfth hour at Port Mercy, Mira is being walked through buttons, workshops, and a rope somebody already paid for. By the time the room stops feeling optional, she has already used what it handed her.
