The Oracle

A Short Story

Previously published in SavagePlanets Magazine, October 2023 edition.

Abandoned by their crew. Hunted by the Alliance. Stranded in a dead star system with no hope of rescue.

Devon and Persephone have always been more than partners—bound by danger, linked by something deeper neither dares to name. But when a desperate escape lands them on a lifeless world with one impossible anomaly—a bubble of living paradise—they discover they were never running by chance.

Something ancient has been waiting for them.

A living planet. A mysterious obelisk. A voice that speaks across eons.

Now, with enemies closing in and their past burned away, the lovers must decide: return to the life they knew… or step through a doorway that could reshape their fate forever.

A tale of cosmic destiny, forbidden refuge, and love that survives the end of worlds.

Perfect for fans of Jessie Mihalik, Arkady Martine, and Becky Chambers.
