Heavy Work Handout- Improving Regulation Through Movement
Heavy work includes activities such as pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying. These provide proprioceptive input that helps the nervous system regulate arousal and attention. These activities are especially helpful for children who:
- Seek out movement or sensory input
- Struggle with transitions
- Have low body awareness or difficulty with motor planning
Incorporating heavy work into daily routines can support self-regulation, body awareness, and functional participation in school and play. Download our free handout for practical, evidence-based heavy work strategies.
