Adult Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based, skills-focused training that teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older.


Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize common signs and symptoms
  • Approach someone with empathy and without judgment
  • Apply the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan
  • Provide appropriate initial support
  • Connect someone with professional, community and self-help resources
  • Promote early intervention and reduce stigma


Training information

  • Saturday, October 10, 2026
  • 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. ET
  • Live virtual training via Zoom
  • Required self-paced coursework before the live session
  • Presented by Dr. Raylene P. Ross, Certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor

No previous mental health education or clinical experience is required.


This is an interactive certification course not a webinar. Participants must complete the required pre-work, attend the entire instructor-led session, actively participate and complete all required course evaluations to qualify for certification.
