About the program

This is a 5-week guided program for singers who want to understand jazz singing from the inside out. You’ll explore the foundations of jazz, develop essential jazz singing techniques, and begin working with interpretation and improvisation in a clear, structured way.


Throughout the program, we focus on practical tools you can apply immediately, including basic theory, phrasing, and different jazz styles, so you can feel more confident when singing jazz standards.


This program is designed as a strong starting point for singers who already have basic vocal technique and want to take their first focused step into the jazz world.

SCHEDULE

WEEK 1 - INTRODUCTION TO JAZZ

Get oriented in the jazz world and understand how jazz songs are structured, so you feel more confident approaching standards.


In this week, you’ll work on:

  • What a jazz standard is
  • Song form and structure
  • Rhythm and time feel
  • Different jazz styles
  • Basic theory: jazz chords, common progressions, lead sheets, and intervals

WEEK 2 - SINGING JAZZ BASICS

Develop the foundations of jazz vocal technique and start building a repertoire that suits your voice.


In this week, you’ll work on:

  • Choosing your repertoire
  • Common jazz standards for singers
  • Finding the right key for your voice
  • Speech-level singing method
  • Jazz phrasing and stylistic guidelines


WEEK 3 - LET'S LEARN ABOUT SWING!

Explore one of the most essential jazz styles and learn how to feel and sing swing with confidence.


In this week, you’ll work on:

  • Understanding what swing is and how it feels
  • How to sing a swing tune naturally
  • Working with different tempos and counting off swing tunes
  • Interpretation methods for swing repertoire
  • Basic improvisation skills
  • Learning a new swing tune (or working on one you already know)


WEEK 4 - SINGING A BALLAD

Learn how to approach jazz ballads with depth and expression, and develop a personal, engaging interpretation.

In this week, you’ll work on:

  • Singing jazz ballads with stylistic awareness
  • Popular ballads in jazz repertoire
  • Choosing your story and shaping your interpretation
  • Learning a new ballad (or working on one you already know)


WEEK 5 - SINGING THE BLUES

Bring everything together by exploring the blues, its structure, and expressive possibilities, and finish the program by creating your own blues tune.


In this week, you’ll work on:

  • Understanding the blues and its role in jazz
  • The blues form
  • Blues and pentatonic scales, with exercises and improvisation
  • Exploring different blues interpretations across jazz styles
  • Learning a blues tune
  • Writing your own blues tune


After completing this module, you’ll receive a Certificate of Completion.

About the teacher

Maja Savic is a professional jazz vocalist and holistic voice coach with over 15 years of performance and teaching experience. Her work focuses on helping singers develop confidence, expressive freedom, and a strong personal connection to their voice.


Drawing from years of performing and teaching in Paris, Maja combines vocal technique with tools such as breathwork, relaxation, and mindfulness to support both vocal development and stage presence.


Through her teaching, she guides singers to feel more grounded, confident on stage, and comfortable expressing their individuality through music.
