Out of Alignment — Chapter One: The Breakdown

One breakdown. One mechanic. One afternoon that should have ended at the side of the E6.

Elise has just returned to Norway to a marriage that is falling apart, temporary housing, four jobs, and a bank balance she would rather not think about.

Then her almost-new MINI breaks down on the motorway.

She already has a fairly good idea of what is wrong with it. What she does not expect is the man who arrives with the recovery truck.

James is controlled, observant, irritatingly competent — and far too easy to notice.

What begins as a roadside recovery should remain exactly that.

It doesn’t.

Out of Alignment: Chapter One — The Breakdown is the opening chapter of Elise and James’s story, told from Elise’s point of view.
