Dillon and Jessica are certain they’re being followed, so they decide to hide inside a manhole. Hoping they’re not climbing down into a pit of snakes or bubonic rats, they discover something much more unexpected: the hope of escape!

“Something moved under my shoe,” she says.

We bend down to inspect more closely and see a heavy curved item made of metal. With my hand, I clear the sand off of it and shake my head in disbelief. “It’s a manhole cover, and it looks like it’s covering some sort of underground entrance!"

Jessica grabs the sleeve of my shirt. “Dillon! Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”

I straighten up and look at her. “That depends. What are you thinking?”

“If we are being tracked, we can go down underneath and wait them out..."
