The Video Repurposing Playbook: Turn One Long Video into 10+ Pieces of Content | Fast, Cheap & Confident
Filming is the expensive part. Posting once is the waste.
The setup, the cooking, the cleanup, the retakes — a long video costs you an afternoon. Then most creators post it one time and go back to the stove to start the next one from zero. The Video Repurposing Playbook is the system that ends that: one long video goes in, and ten or more finished pieces come out — the long video itself, Shorts, quote clips, a compilation segment, an audio episode, a photo post, a written recipe post, and a carousel. Not ten copies of the same thing. Ten different doors into the same dinner.
This is the working system behind my own one-person cookbook channel here in San Antonio — one cook, a phone, and a library of long recipe videos that feed daily clips, Shorts, full-length compilations, a small podcast, and this store. It is a process book, not a results book: the honest page is page 3, and it says exactly what this system can and cannot do.
The four parts:
- Part 1 — The Cut Map. The seven cuts hiding inside every long video, chapter by chapter: how to pick a source video that cuts well, the per-cut spec (format, yield, what each cut needs), and the timestamp pass — one watch-through with a pen that turns editing from a creative decision into an assembly job.
- Part 2 — The 7-Day Drip Schedule. Three anchor days (Tue/Thu/Sat) for the big pieces, short clips in between, nothing repeated. Includes a worked example week (a fictional lentil soup, labeled as an example), a blank one-week planner, and a blank 4-week calendar.
- Part 3 — Caption & Hook Templates. Fill-in-the-blank words for every cut: the long-video description with chapters, five Short-hook patterns, quote-clip captions, compilation and audio-episode notes, the photo post, the carousel's seven slides, a follow/CTA bank, and the QR-post caption. The most-reused templates are mirrored in Spanish for bilingual audiences like mine.
- Part 4 — The Backlog System. The two-list rule (Source List + Cuts Queue), the two-weeks-ahead buffer, a DATE_DISH_TYPE naming and filing convention so any piece can be traced to its source in under a minute, the weekly two-hour batching session, and the three standing rules — including "never post the same cut twice in a week."
Start with the video already on your phone. The best first source is usually an old video that deserved better — its filming cost is already paid.
What's inside:
- The Video Repurposing Playbook PDF — 19 pages: Start Here, the Honest Page, Parts 1–4, and all 5 worksheets in place
- The Worksheets PDF — the same 5 worksheets as one printable file: Timestamp Worksheet, 7-Day Drip Planner, 4-Week Drip Calendar, Backlog Queue Sheet, Batching Session Checklist
- The same playbook as a plain-text (.md) file — so copying a template into your notes or editor is one clean copy-paste
- No software, no subscription, no platform account required — a phone and any free editor run the whole system
Where it sits on my shelf (plainly): This is one system, in depth: video repurposing, start to finish. The Template Vault ($47) is the neighboring shelf — the fill-in business documents; the Seller Masterclass ($97) is the video course that teaches the whole one-person-shop loop. The Playbook is the content engine both of them assume you have. It is sold separately, is not included in the Template Vault, the Masterclass, THE VAULT, or any membership tier, and buying it does not include any of those.
Honest notes:
- No growth or income promises — here or inside. Repurposing gives one video more chances to be seen. It does not guarantee views, followers, subscribers, sales, or money, and the playbook's Honest Page says so before the method starts.
- Every filled-in example is fictional — a lentil soup from a fictional cook, labeled as an example on the page. No channel's real numbers are shown as typical results, because there is no such thing as a typical result.
- Platform rules are your responsibility. Every cut in this system is a real edit (new opening, new title, fresh captions) — never re-upload the same file, and check your platform's current reused-content policy before you schedule. If you use AI help for captions or voiceover, disclose it where a platform asks.
- You need one long video to start. Yours, filmed on anything. This playbook contains no footage and no software — it is the map, the schedule, the words, and the filing system.
