KARIBU Unit 10 | Africa Global Influence | Diaspora Music Food Religion Language | Grades 6 to 12
Jazz. Coffee. The word zombie. Early Christianity. Hip-hop. All of it traces back to Africa.
This unit covers how Africa shaped the world through music, language, mathematics, food, religion, and the 170 million-strong diaspora. Students trace the footprints of African influence across every continent, including the contributions that changed the world but rarely get credited back to Africa.
Includes a reading guide with Did You Know fact boxes, 16 vocabulary terms, a footprint-tracing activity, a timeline, discussion questions, a crossword puzzle, a two-level quiz for middle school and high school, and a complete answer key.
This is Unit 10 of the 12-unit KARIBU African Studies curriculum.
