Polypodium Lace Hat & Scarf · Knitting Pattern (PDF, Beta)
A winter set of ferns and frost. Polypodium is the common polypody, an evergreen fern that stays green all winter on rocks and old trunks, often rimed with frost. On the hat and the scarf, fern fronds climb on twisted stems between frost diamonds and ice stars with nupps, framed by little twisted cables, and every edge ends in a mini ruffle with picots.
BETA PATTERN
Every chart row, every written round, the crown decreases and the cables have been checked stitch by stitch in software, but no sample set has been knitted yet. You get the beta at a lower price, and the tested version will reach you for free through your Payhip download link. Please knit the swatch, and if anything doesn't add up, write to me and I'll fix it.
WHAT YOU GET
• 2 PDFs, in English and in Polish, each with the hat in three sizes and the scarf (13 pages)
• The hat: knitted in the round from the ruffle up, with a deep folded cuff in twisted rib; the frost is decreased away at the crown and the ferns meet in a star on top
• The scarf: worked flat in two halves and grafted in a plain band at the back of the neck, so the ferns grow upwards at both ends; curled fiddleheads above the ruffle and an eye cable with nupps along both long edges
• Lace and cable charts, crown decrease table, schematic and every technique explained (picot cast-on, nupps, twisted cables, turning the cuff, Kitchener stitch step by step)
• The online row-by-row companion at lilacandlace.eu/companion: every round of the hat and every row of the scarf highlighted on the chart and spelled out in English or Polish (unlock code inside the PDF)
