♡ Retro Blue/green version of : The PDA Self Help Book
Thank you for taking a look at The Digital downloadable Printable PDA self help book/journal.
This was co-created by myself Tracey, from Be Neurokind and Chloe from Chloe me Just me (young social media influencer and autism advocate) Chloe was 15 years old (at the time of writing) and ever since she was 7 she has been advocating for positive mental health and self image and raising awareness for PDA (Pathological Demand avoidance) Autism, ADHD, PTSD and Tourettes through her social media channels, she has worked with charities, with individuals, businesses, medical professionals and authors.
I am Tracey (her mum) The creator of Be Neurokind and I am also a carer, a home educator and was a community organiser (for over 10 years) I have aided Chloe in her pursuit to spread awareness and understanding and have also worked with neurodiverse children and also those with anxiety within the home education community.
We have utilised our knowledge, what we practice and what we have learned into helpful happy printable’s that can aid young individuals.
The PDA Self help book is the type of book we wished was available to us and we hope what we have learned and adapted can be passed on to others.
♡ PDA Self Help book is aimed at children (some may need to work with parents dependant on reading and writing ability) and teens to help them understand their PDA and what it means to them, giving them some useful tools to recognise triggers and regulation activities they can practice with a positive message.
Designed with an invitation for the readers to be able to write in their own thoughts and experiences with PDA/ neurodivergent friendly language. We believe our printable is inclusive and less demanding with fun activities that allow children to think about their own neurodivergency and allow them to process and understand their lived experiences and how their brain works.
Teachers, therapists and counsellors may wish to use these resources for their work but this can not be sold to their students or clients, if they wish to have their own copies please direct them here.
♡ Are you looking for a self help book that PDA individuals can find beneficial, useful and help with self acceptance, understanding and regulation? Then this book has been specifically designed to aid children on their journey to getting to know themselves better.
♡ Our digital self help printable book helps with:
1. Self understanding and validation: Our PDA self help book helps children recognise and understand their own behaviour, thoughts and emotions. For children who often feel "different" this kind of resource can validate their experiences , making them feel seen and understood.
It can help children put words to complex feelings and behaviours, which is empowering and can reduce frustration.
2. Tools for emotional regulation and coping: PDA often comes with high levels of anxiety and a sense of being overwhelmed by everyday demands, A well designed book written by a PDA-er and their neurodivese mum offers strategies for recognising triggers and developing coping mechanisms.
Techniques such as Chloe's personal loophole theory, sensory breaks, reframing and communicating can help children regulate and understand their emotions more effectively.
3. Development of self-advocacy skills: Self-help resources encourage children to articulate their needs and advocate for themselves, which is a crucial skill for both educational settings and social settings or simply coping at home. The idea of the book is to help aid communication so others can understand and be more accommodating. For example, they might learn how to express when they need a break or why a particular demand is challenging for them.
By fostering self-advocacy, children with a PDA profile can feel more in control of their lives, reducing some of the anxieties tied to demands. This is what has helped Chloe considerably throughout her life and why she feels it is important others benefits from what has worked for her.
4. Enhanced communication and social skills: PDA behaviours can often lead to misunderstandings or strained relationships. A self-help book can offer advice on communication styles, helping children express themselves in ways that are constructive and supportive and allow others to understand.
This can also teach them ways to handle common social situations, reducing the risk of isolation and helping them feel more comfortable interacting with peers and family members.
5. Although this is aimed at children, a self-help book for PDA can also serve as an educational tool for parents, teachers and therapists, who may better understand and empathise with the Childs perspective.
with shared strategies and language and findings from the filled in book, adults can support children more effectively, providing consistent routines and responses that help reduce the Childs anxiety.
♡ A PDA self-help book for children is more than just a tool for managing behaviours; it's a guide for personal growth, self-acceptance, and emotional resilience. Ir empowers young individuals to understand themselves, builds essential life skills, and ultimately navigate the world with greater confidence and comfort. For families, caregivers, and educators, it can open doors to more compassionate, individualised support strategies that can make a real difference to a Childs life.
♡ Please note this is not to be used instead of therapy and to always seek medical advice from a professional.
♡These printable’s are designed to aid positive mental health mindset and personal growth & understanding.
