Inspired by the first pattern I ever published, the Dungarees Cowl, this shawl combines two different takes on an openwork knot stitch with lateral braids and bands of gathered stockinette. Worked from the top down in a traditional triangle shape, the shawl pattern includes two sizes, so you can make the most of your skein of yarn.

Sizes: Small (Large)

Finished dimensions: small is approximately 46”/117 cm across the top and 22”/56 cm deep; large approximately 54”/137 cm across the top and 26”/66 cm deep.

Gauge: 26 sts and 32 rows = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, blocked; 22 sts and 28 rows = 4”/10 cm in Abeja Chart I, blocked.
Note: it is not essential to get gauge, but differences in gauge will affect the size of your finished shawl and the amount of yarn used.

Yarn: Approximately 400 (475) yd fingering weight yarn.
Small (yellow) shown in Lakes Yarn and Fiber Silk Single Fingering, 70% merino wool, 30% silk (435 yd/100g): 1 skein in Drops of Honey.
Large (green) shown in Skeinny Dipping Yarn Merino Single, 100% merino wool (475 yd/114g): 1 skein in Salt Marsh.

Needles: US 6 32”/80 cm+ circular needle
