"The Paine Protocol has everything audiences love: intrigue, heart, & a powerful emotional core. This has all the elements of a major motion picture."

-- Ron Hall, NY Times Bestselling Author, Same Kind of Different as Me (& Paramount Pictures)

The Collector's Bundle includes:

  • 📖 The full, updated digital novel (formatted like an early manuscript)
  • 🎧 The complete audiobook read by the author (because sometimes you need a voice in the room)
  • Author's notes on the true events behind the story
  • A final reflection on legacy and truth

This isn't just a political thriller.

It's based on a true family story, a cold case, and a reckoning with what gets buried and refuses to stay hidden.

Nearly 60 years after their father's death, Mark, Rachel, and Rob stumble onto a mysterious cassette tape, a hidden field notebook, and the first thread in a web of lies stretching from Vietnam to Texas, from Pentagon backrooms to rural Pennsylvania genetic test zones.

Some lessons are not just taught. They're carried.

About the author

Mark Paine Fisher was five years old when his father, Captain Robert T. Paine, was killed in a 1966 plane crash. He has spent the better part of sixty years asking what really happened - both out-loud and in his imagination. He is the grandson of Western novelist Lauran Paine, whose work Kevin Costner adapted into the 2003 film Open Range. The Paine Protocol is Mark's first spy-novel.

This story is for you if:

  • You love political and historical thrillers
  • Cold War intrigue
  • You're drawn to aviation mysteries and real family history
  • You are carrying grief, loss, or unanswered questions of your own
  • You believe some truths are worth the cost of finding them

If you're carrying something heavy right now, the absence of someone who mattered, the silence where a voice used to be, Mark Paine Fisher's world will feel familiar.

You'll recognize the ache in these pages.

And somewhere inside this story, you might find something that feels a little like company.

Captivating

I listened to the Audiobook in one sitting, I couldn't stop. My husband was a Vietnam Vet, so I am very interested in reading about that Era.
Thank you, Mark, for telling us about what your family endured.

Sharon, thank you so much for this it truly moved me. The fact that you listened in one sitting means the world. Your husband’s service as a Vietnam Vet gives you a perspective on this story that few others have, and I’m deeply grateful you took the time to share it. Stories like his like my family’s deserve to be heard and remembered. Thank you for honoring that.
