The Law of Bitterwater
In Montana Territory in 1876, Sheriff Ruth Calder discovers the creek
running red and miners and children falling ill. As she investigates
the powerful local mining syndicate, Ruth uncovers hazardous dumping,
intimidation of homesteaders, and fraudulent land deals. With a
physician, her deputy, and determined townspeople, she must bring the
truth before the law—and protect Bitterwater's families—before the
company silences them.
