Tim grinned as he fiddled with the dials on the homemade shrinking machine he had built. The 29-year-old inventor had been tinkering with it for months, and he was eager to test it out. He set the controls for a height of about an inch tall, just to be on the safe side for his first trial run.

Stepping back, the lanky man took a deep breath and pressed the activation button. There was a blinding flash of light and a strange tingling sensation. The room suddenly seemed to rush upward around Tim as he rapidly shrank down to the size of an ant.

"Whoa!" he exclaimed, stumbling around on spindly insect legs. The world looked so different from this tiny perspective - the furniture were towering cliffs, simple objects became looming behemoths. He had to be careful not to get crushed.

Tim scurried under the couch to hide and wait for his girlfriend Zarah to get home from her shift at the diner. He wanted to surprise her with his new shrinking ability. But as the minutes ticked by into hours, he started to get worried. He tried to activate the machine again to reverse the effects, but nothing happened - the power must have drained after the initial shrink.

Feeling anxious, Tim peeked out from under the couch, just as the front door opened. "Zarah? Baby, I'm- whoops!"

The dark-haired beauty stepped right into the living room...and directly onto the unattended shrinking machine with her high heel shoe. There was another bright flash.

"Ow!" Zarah yelped, hopping on one foot. "What the hell?" She looked down and saw the crushed metal contraption.

Tim's eyes went wide as he watched his girlfriend loom over him, her jean-clad legs now resembling redwood trees as she had shrunk down as well! He let out a squeak of surprise.

Zarah looked around in confusion, her eyes adjusting to her new surroundings. "Tim? Are you here somewhere?" She called out.

The tiny man waved his arms frantically, trying to get her attention. "Over here Zarah! Watch out!"

But she didn't notice the miniscule figure on the carpet. Zarah started to walk across the room, her heavy footfalls jostling the ground. Tim scurried to get out of the way as she headed right for him.
