A six session emotional regulation small group for grades 1–3
Most regulation groups ask a seven-year-old to talk about their own anger. It rarely works. Shame closes the door before the lesson starts, and you spend twenty minutes coaxing a child who has already decided they are the problem.
This one flips it.
There is a bear called Mooza who has very big feelings and does not know what to do with them. Every week she writes to your group with a problem, her paws went hot before she got angry, she cried for an hour over a lost pencil, she is frightened of a birthday party. The children write back with advice.
They are the helpers, not the ones being helped. That single change is why it works. A child who will tell you nothing about their own anger will tell you everything about why the bear got angry, and a child who has just explained a coping strategy to someone else has learned it far better than one who was told it.
