Create Washable No Sew Fabric Or Paper Picture Frames 8 Photo Size Patterns

Make simple, paper card stock OR washable, NO sew, fabric picture frames with patterns to make 8 frame photo sizes! The 2 smallest size frames are convertible frame pin ornaments, meaning the easel strut leg and metal brooch pin back are removable and interchangeable! You can detach the easel strut leg and re-attach it with hook & loop (Velcro brand or Joann Fabrics $1 per yard type). You can also thread a ribbon through the holes on the easel back panel to hang the frame as a tree / Holiday / Christmas / any holiday or occasion ornament! The 3 smallest frames are great for party favors, for weddings, showers, as place card holders for receptions, dinner parties, Thanksgiving, Christmas, any event! If you choose to sew the frames, you can do that, too! Just use longer stitch lengths and a heavy duty machine needle, sew slowly, and only sew the outer panels, leaving the necessary openings for the photo opening, the easel board opening, and the bottom part of the strut leg opening, for the removable parts.

This download has 8 sets of patterns, one for each frame photo size. The picture frame is back, and can be made with only supplies from art, fabric, or craft stores, so no special equipment, for these tabletop, easel picture frames, with strut legs that pitch out, for the frame to stand on a table or shelf. 79 pages in this pdf download.

Supplies
  • fabric - 1/4 yard for smallest frames, up to 2 yards for frame for 8x10" photo
  • 5 yard roll of Therm o Web HeatnBond Ultrahold, an acid free, photo safe, paperback iron on fabric adhesive, interfacing, fusible web - start out with 1 roll, and do one frame at a time, will need three 5 yard rolls to complete all the frame sizes, but make 1 frame at a time - This is what you print the patterns onto, using your inkjet printer. Just cut the 5 yard roll into 32 letter size, or up to 32 A4 size sheets, using a ruler and pen or pencil, cut the widths 11" long each, you will get 16 rows, each row will get 2 sheets across, then cut those into 2 8 1/2" widths with the same tools or use a paper trimmer to cut down on time cutting.
  • 2 different lengths and widths of ribbon, per frame
  • 1 big pack of hot glue sticks & a low temp glue gun and/or acid free glue stick, if available
  • Pack of acid free, clear sheet protector page as photo sleeve, cut to size of photo - clear protective sleeve, a sheet protector page, acid free, cut to the size of the photo, found at Walgreens, Walmart, & Target - just make sure that its labeled "acid free", and shouldn't cost more than $5 for 50 sheet page pack.
  • Mat board OR cardboard is only for the 4 largest size washable, no sew, fabric photo frame removable easel back & strut leg boards that slide out of their pockets on the back - patterns included to print and transfer to board, board patterns are provided for all 8 sizes

Optional:
  • Pack of 1 1/4" long metal brooch pin backs for 2 smallest frame / pin / ornament
  • 1 yard Velcro hook & loop for optional removable / interchangeable strut leg for 2 smallest frames, or to use as pins and/or ornaments
  • one optional length of ribbon to thread through hole on back to hang as ornament, or hang larger frames

For paper
  • paper card stock 8 1/2" x 11" each sheet, up to 6 sheets - use wallpaper or larger sheets at least 11"x13" inch each for frame for 8x10" photo
  • I use Modge Podge and coat / decoupage the front of the printable sheet, with a sponge brush, plastic wrap or a clear vinyl or acetate / sheet protector page underneath, to protect the table or work surface. You can coat the other side if you want, and you can use self laminating sheets as well.

You are now seeing all types of instant print cameras and smartphone photo printer devices to capture your memories. What I've done is make an eBook full of patterns, plus photo & text step by step instructions, to print and make your own fabric OR paper picture frames, with no sewing required!

I have the frame front overlap the photo by about 1/4" minimum all around, the photo will stay in place, the photo pocket holds the photo and clear sleeve in place, a ribbon connected the strut leg to the easel back on the bottom right, tucked inside between layers of fabric, Ultrahold, and/or board. There are holes to hang the frames vertically or horizontally on the easel back, the strut leg pitches out, with the ribbon allowing it to pitch just enough to stand.

The washable picture frames are that, washable. Just remove all boards, sleeves, photos, metal pin backs if you decide to use the 2 smallest sizes as a brooch jewelry lapel pin button frame, basically anything that is removable, then place the frame inside a lingerie bag, place in the washer on cold, in the delicate cycle, no fabric softener, no bleach, use mild detergent like WoolWash from the Dollar store / Dollar Tree, then place the frame on a towel to stand and air dry.

And there is a table of contents listing what's on each page. So if you want to only print one frame size pattern, you just go to the table of contents, find that size, and only print those panels onto Ultrahold and/or printer paper for the boards. Yes, its over 80 pages, but you get EVERYTHING you need to make all kinds of easel, tabletop, table picture frames, in fabric, paper, and other substrates if you want to try.

I also provide links to click on to buy some of the supplies directly, in the download.
