Unknown People / Obcy ludzie

In photographing people in public space I am not trying to reduce the distance to them. Yes, with some people I make friends, but it is not my goal. I observe foreignness, I peep, I register it without interfering. I happen to have a conversation, on the initiative of my or others, but I do not encourage anyone to activities in front of the camera. For me photographing is process of understanding, insight into people and myself.

I inspired by street photography of Robert Frank, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau.

This is no narrative book and is not a guide of street photography. This is pictorial notation from meeting people.

Fotografując ludzi w przestrzeni publicznej, nie staram się zmniejszać dystansu do nich. Owszem, z niektórymi się zaprzyjaźniam, ale nie jest to moim celem. Obserwuję obcość, podglądam, rejestruję ją bez ingerencji. Zdarza mi się nawiązać rozmowę, z inicjatywy mojej lub innych, ale nie zachęcam nikogo do aktywności przed aparatem. Fotografowanie jest dla mnie procesem zrozumienia, wglądu w ludzi i w siebie.

To nie jest książka narracyjna ani przewodnik po fotografii ulicznej. Jest to obrazowy zapis spotkań z ludźmi.
