Mapped Export Compare — CSV Debit, Credit & Row Count Comparison (Python)

Compare two explicitly mapped CSV exports without changing either file.

Mapped Export Compare reports debit totals, credit totals and row counts by exact account text, date and currency. Differences are left minus right. Separate gross sides can reveal differences hidden by an equal net balance. HTML and JSON reports retain row evidence and source hashes.

You supply the mapping

Declare each side's exact column names, delimiter, comparable basis/date window/scope/filters, and currency precision in a JSON configuration. This is a technical terminal workflow. It is not a native QuickBooks adapter and does not infer mappings or inspect your accounting application's settings.

Included fictional examples

Seven comparison groups illustrate six observed differences and one equal-aggregate result. Examples include equal debit totals with different row counts, and offsetting debit/credit differences hidden by a zero net difference. All transaction identities remain unverified.

Requirements and delivery

Python 3.10+ source-code ZIP, tested locally on Windows with Python 3.12. Standard library only, no extra pip packages. Includes source, mapping example, two fictional CSVs, worked HTML/JSON reports, case guide and first-run instructions. No standalone EXE, GUI, Python runtime or subscription is included.

Input limits

UTF-8 line-level CSVs with explicit mappings; valid YYYY-MM-DD dates; exact account text; declared uppercase currency labels; separate nonnegative plain-decimal debit/credit columns. No signed amounts, currency symbols, grouped numbers, automatic rounding, FX conversion, fuzzy account matching or footer cleanup. Maximum 10 MiB per file and 100,000 data rows per CSV. Read the included contract before using your own exports.

What a result means

Matching aggregate totals and counts do not prove transaction identity, completeness or a successful migration. Extra columns are explicitly unexamined. Differences do not identify their cause. This is not a transaction matcher, repair/import tool, migration validator or accounting certification. No real paired vendor exports or accounting-application workflow has been validated.

Read-only inputs and new report folders; existing outputs are refused. Exit 0 means reports written, not successful reconciliation. Reports include account names, settings and amounts: protect them like the exports. No credentials or network connection required.

Use and modify for your internal work and authorized client files; no resale or redistribution of the supplied utility. Implementation has received scoped independent core review. No exclusive rights in the supplied elements are promised. Download/file support only; custom setup, export preparation, accounting advice and consulting are not included. No guaranteed response time or future updates.
