About the artwork

A polychrome Dutch tile from around 1620–1640: a pot of flowers in a scalloped blue frame, with meanders in the corners. Tiles like this lined kitchens, fireplaces and stairs across the Netherlands. The tile glaze stays unstitched, which keeps the design light and quick to stitch.
