Systems of Equations Substitution Chain Reaction Activity | Solving Systems Practice
Give students a self-checking way to practice solving systems of equations by substitution with this Systems of Equations Substitution Chain Reaction Activity. Students solve each system, find their answer on the next problem strip, and link the pieces together to create a completed chain.
This resource includes 16 introductory substitution problems, making it a helpful option when students are first practicing the substitution method. A second version is also included with 4 bonus problems that are a little more challenging, giving you an easy way to extend the activity for students who are ready for more practice.
Students cut out the strips, solve each problem, and connect the chain in the correct order. If an answer is incorrect, the chain will not link correctly, giving students a built-in way to check their work. This activity can be used independently, with partners, as stations, or as a review activity.
