Cabestan

This pattern is available both in English and French.

Cabestan is another interpretation of something that always makes me happy: la marinière as we say in French - aka a Sailor Sweater!

For this new one, the construction is a tiny bit atypical, as it start with the lovely cabled adorned shoulders. But atypical doesn’t mean complicated, and I’ve attached myself to make the pattern as easy as possible. 

After this first step the rest will go with the flow, as it’s a simple top down, seamless, sweater.

GAUGE

18 stitches/24 rows for 10 cm in stocking stitch

SIZES

1 (2 – 3 – 4) 5 – 6 (7 – 8 – 9) 

Finished bust measurement: 90 (100 – 110 – 120) 130 – 140 (150 – 160 – 170) cm. 

Choose a size with 10/20 cm of positive ease, or according to your preference.

YARN

Filcolana « Peruvian Highland Wool » 

Main Color (shown here in Marzipan Melange): 7 (8 – 9 – 10) 11 – 12 (13 – 14 – 15) skeins or approx. 750 (860 – 970 – 1080) 1190 – 1300 (1410 – 1520 – 1630) yards of yarn with a corresponding gauge. 

Contrasting Color (shown here in Storm Blue): 2 (2 – 2 – 2) 3 – 3 (3 – 3 – 3) skeins or approx. 140 (165 – 185 – 210) 230 – 250 (270 – 300 – 320) yards of yarn with a corresponding gauge.

Cabestan est une nouvelle interprétation de quelque chose qui me rend toujours heureux : la marinière !

Pour celle-ci, la construction est un poil atypique, car le project commence par les belles épaules ornées de torsades. Mais atypique ne signifie pas compliqué, et je me suis attaché à rendre le patron aussi simple que possible.

Après cette première étape, le reste coulera de source, car il s’agit d’un simple pull tricoté du haut vers le bas, sans coutures.
