IGCSE Booklet 35 - Matrices | Original 12-page PDF
Download Dr Taylan Çeltik’s original 12-page IGCSE Booklet 35 - Matrices, covering matrix order, addition/subtraction, scalar multiplication, compatibility and multiplication, identity matrices, determinants, inverses and singularity.
This is the original teaching booklet, retaining its historical question numbers, diagrams, equations and included selected worked examples. It is not a newly authored complete solutions pack. Digital PDF download only.
A separate clarification PDF is included. Page 10, inverse formula: for a 2 × 2 matrix A, the displayed inverse formula requires det(A) = ad − bc ≠ 0. A matrix with zero determinant is singular and has no inverse. Page 11, starred identity below Question 15: A² = [A][A] states matrix multiplication. For Question 15, use det(A²) = (det A)². Here det A = 2 × 7 − 5 × 3 = −1, so det(A²) = 1. Distinguish the matrix square from its scalar determinant. Course scope: this is a preserved legacy IGCSE extension booklet. Matrix multiplication, determinants and inverses are included as mathematical enrichment; this sheet makes no claim that all of these topics belong to the current GCSE core.
Historical scanned worked examples are softer than the typed text. All page content remains in its original positions.
Use the exact question/page references in each matching video description. The booklet includes further practice beyond each selected recording. Spiral learning connects these skills with earlier number, algebra, graph and geometry ideas. Matrices are offered as legacy IGCSE mathematical extension material.
