THE FOUR OLD BRAINS — Phenotype Tarot Deck

A pocket field guide to the four AuDHD male phenotypes — for every woman who dates, considers, or loves one

Better Than the Bear · Card Deck No. 1 · by Elena Okhonko

What it is

Four tarot-sized cards. Four ancient male brains. One minute to know which one is sitting across from you.

Before a man opens his mouth, his body has already told you everything — how he moves, where his eyes go, what he does with a room. This deck teaches you to read it. Each card is one phenotype: the hardware evolution built, painted as a mythic archetype on the front, decoded into plain field language on the back.

Print it. Laminate it. Keep it in your bag. Save it to your phone. Pull it out before the second date — or during the first one, in the bathroom, we won't judge.

This is not a personality quiz. It's a survival instrument disguised as art.

The Four Cards

🔥 THE HUNTER — fire · red · blood

Remember him as: the explosion.

  • Key drive: the target — something to hunt, catch, kill. The chase is the point.
  • The body: compact, muscular, not tall — power like dynamite waiting to burst.
  • How he moves: stillness, then explosion. Rest-and-digest between bursts.
  • His eyes: scan for targets and threats — the stare that measures you.
  • Dating: fast and furious — the fastest path to bed wins. Three dates feel like thirty.
  • With you: trophy and teammate at once; compares himself to other men.
  • Commitment: goal-oriented — he wins you, shows you off, then needs a new target.
  • ⚠ At Level 2: the rage gets a name — yours. Fire, not ice. At 2A-Extreme, the burst can kill.
  • Drawn to: the Tracker woman (the horizon) and the Defender woman (the fort he comes home to).

🌊 THE TRACKER — dark blue · the deep ocean · restless

Remember him as: the path.

  • Key drive: the track — being in motion, novelty, pattern mapping.
  • The body: lean, skinny, bony, tall-ish — the key physical tell.
  • How he moves: never idle, always tracking; graceful restlessness.
  • His eyes: scanning, curious — reads the whole room like a chart.
  • Dating: needs a mental, intellectual connection — a kindred explorer, curious about all sorts of kinks in bed.
  • In sex: exploration and variety — bodies, minds, shapes. Signature fetish: legs and feet.
  • With you: fascinating and gone — travels alone, dopamine from new people.
  • Commitment: loves you and needs novelty; at Level 2 he opens the arrangement.
  • ⚠ At Level 2: he consumes instead of explores. At 2B: sadism, control — check his camera roll.
  • Drawn to: the Tracker woman (base camp of two), the Shaman woman (the deep eyes), and the Hunter woman — the only man who lets her run beside him and take the kill he spots.

🐻 THE DEFENDER — dark brown · the sentinel

Remember him as: the wall.

  • Key drive: to defend and protect — the perimeter, and the people inside it.
  • The body: broad, heavy, bear-built — wide shoulders, strong thick legs; occupies the door frame.
  • How he moves: slow, deliberate, planted; the wall that decided to walk.
  • His eyes: watchful, warm at Level 1, flat at Level 2 — the perimeter scan.
  • Dating: happy to go at your pace — measured, patient, never pushes. He is vetting for forever, so he can wait.
  • In sex: steady, protective, possessive.
  • With you: the wall you lean on — until the wall becomes the cage.
  • Commitment: the most monogamous hardware on the card.
  • At 2A-Extreme he is the man who kills the wife or girlfriend who tries to leave.
  • ⚠ At Level 2: the door locks from his side. At 2B: the void in uniform — isolation presented as devotion.
  • Drawn to: the Shaman woman (depth that sees him) and the Defender woman (the fort-holder — the one he marries).

🌿 THE SHAMAN — green · the pattern-keeper

Remember him as: the eyes.

  • Key drive: curiosity — nature, pattern mapping, the deep layers of things.
  • The body: small, slight — and the big, big eyes that hypnotize you.
  • How he moves: quiet, unhurried; you notice he was in the room afterwards.
  • His eyes: ocean eyes — they read you, and they hold you.
  • Dating: needs to connect emotionally first — to vibe, to feel you, to see your body. Everything depends on the strength of that connection.
  • In sex: depth immediately — no small talk; soul talk. Deep, present, merging.
  • With you: calm, conflict-averse; sees through you, kindly.
  • Commitment: stays while the peace holds; disturbance breaks him.
  • ⚠ At Level 2: the story he is never wrong about. At 2B: the void that predicts you — flat calm, zero curiosity about himself, camera on the shelf.
  • Drawn to: the Shaman woman first (mirrors), then the Tracker woman — and, rarely, the Hunter woman: the only man who can hold her without caging her.

How to use it

  1. First hour: watch his body, not his words. Compact muscle? Tall & Lean restlessness? Door-frame shoulders? Slight frame, ocean eyes?
  2. Find his card. Read the back. That's his factory settings.
  3. Check the loop. The front tells you the hardware; the ⚠ Level 2 line tells you what childhood damage does to it. Same body, sealed loop = the Mirror (see the 24 Men deck for all six levels per phenotype).
  4. Decide with your body, not your hope. The card doesn't tell you to leave or stay. It tells you what you're actually looking at.

Who it's for

Every AuDHD woman who is still dating, considering, or already in a relationship — and wants the first-hour read that used to take her three years and a therapy bill.

You were born with pattern recognition. This deck plugs it back in.

A framework, not a diagnosis. These cards read patterns, not people — no card can tell you what a specific man will do. If you are in danger, the card is not the tool: your exit plan is.
