What changed in a store's prices and stock this week, in one table. $14.

I'm Harold Miller and this is a $14 kit for the owner of a shop that sells online. Shopify is a service many small shops use to run their online store. Every Shopify store keeps a file listing what it sells, with each item's price and whether it's in stock. Anyone can open that file in a web browser without logging in. The kit shows you how to save a copy of that file, for your own store or for any other. Then a small program reads two of those copies, saved a week apart, and prints a table of what moved. A price that went up or down. An item that sold out. An item back in stock. A new listing, or one that's gone. A name that changed. A change to the "was" price a shop shows crossed out beside its sale price. Under the table, how many of each.

You never type a number. Every price comes from the store's own file on the day you saved it.

You get two things. A short guide that says where the file is, how to save it, how to run the program and what the table means. And the program itself. You double-click it, pick the older copy, pick the newer copy, and the table is written in the same folder as the newer copy. It needs a free program called Python on your computer, which you install once from python.org. The kit's program never goes online on its own. You do the saving, in your own browser.

It doesn't tell you what to charge, and it doesn't put two different stores side by side. For that I sell a separate one-page spreadsheet at griffinley.com/harold-miller/.

If a number it prints is wrong when you check it against the store's page, write to me and you get your money back.
