The author finds himself on a three-week-long trip to South Africa—a country he has never in his life wanted to visit.

Right away, his patience gets pushed to the limit as he has to suffer through 14-hour flights, a lack of planning, indecision, beggars, drama, sunburn, and his girlfriend’s insufferable mom.

During the trip, among other things, the author manages to drink an ungodly amount of South African beer, constantly feels ill at ease due to the country’s high crime rate, photographs animals dead and alive, almost breaks up with his girlfriend, gets threatened to be left behind in the middle of wilderness, and solves the problem of race once and for all.
