Somatic Workbook for Face Tension/Trauma
Somatic work focuses on developing awareness of the body's sensations, patterns, and responses. Through gentle exercises, mindfulness, breathing practices, movement, and self-reflection, we can begin to release chronic tension and create greater regulation within the nervous system. When the body feels safer, it often becomes easier to manage stress, regulate emotions, communicate needs, and reconnect with ourselves in a more compassionate way.
This workbook was created to help you better understand the connection between your mind, body, and nervous system, specifically how stress, anxiety, trauma, and life's challenges can become stored in the jaw, tongue, throat, face, and neck. Many people are unaware of how much tension they carry in these areas until they begin paying attention to the signals their body has been sending all along.
As you move through this workbook, I encourage you to go slowly, remain curious, and approach yourself with kindness. There is no right or wrong way to experience these exercises. Your body has its own wisdom, and healing happens one small step at a time.
