Sometimes I just fall in love with a skein of yarn. This was such a case. I was scrolling through one of my knitting newsletters, and I ran across a photo of Malabrigo Caracol. Now, I’ve seen this yarn plenty of times before, in person and in photographs, but there was something about it that day…the thick and thin yarn in brilliant colors encased with that gorgeous black mesh…well…I couldn’t stop thinking about it. What I could do with it. And, how quick I could do it. I fell in love with Caracol. You may fall in love with another super bulky yarn. I can see falling for Madelinetosh ASAP, Amano Yana Journeys, or many other beautiful yarns that you may fancy for these cowls. Anyways, to make a long story short…

Knit in the round with large needles, To Make a Long Story Short is a cowl with two size options. The short cowl is 26 inches; the long is 52 inches around. Features a ribbed border on each edge. Simple stitch patterns highlight the beauty of the super bulky weight yarn. Huge impact; much smaller time commitment. Think quick gift or holiday knitting.

The short cowl requires about 90 yards of the main color (I used Malabrigo Carcoal) and 25 yards of the contrasting color. (I used Malabrigo Rasta). The long cowl uses 180 of the main color and 50 yards of the contrasting color.
