In Paradisum

In Paradisum is an original choral composition setting the ancient Latin funeral antiphon from the Catholic burial rite. The opening movement follows the contour of the traditional chant, accompanied by chordal harmonies in the ensemble. The piece builds to a full-voiced swell at the moment of entrance into Heaven, arriving at the choirs of angels, before resolving into a quiet, sustained peace, the eternal rest the text prays for.
