This piece was written during the ongoing lockdown for COVID-19 for solo alto recorder and was included in Eric Haas’s edition of the Alto Recorder Solo Book. Like its counterpart for solo soprano recorder Love in the Time of COVID-19, the title is inspired by a Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel – in this case Chronicle of a Death Foretold.
While written for a performer whose vocal range is in the alto/tenor area and who is playing alto recorder, either line of Chronicle of a Pandemic Foretold can be performed in any octave...although it could possibly be a bit odd on garklein with a performer who is vocally in the bass range...but have at it, if that would bring you bliss!
