Pick and Strum Somewhere Over the Rainbow on Ukulele

In this 4 lesson self-paced Music class, beginning ukulele

students will learn to play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"

both as a solo and as an accompaniment.

Class Description:

In this 4 lesson self-paced class,

beginning ukulele students will learn to

pick and strum "Somewhere Over the Rainbow".

No prior knowledge is required, but it is recommended that students take my "Surf"

and/or "Wipeout" class first, where we will

learn the chords (Surf) and I explain how to

read ukulele tablature (tabs).

The students need to already have their ukuleles tuned to the notes G, C, E and A.

Since practice is an important part of learning

an instrument, it is recommended that

students practice 15 minutes, 4 days per week

for a total of 60 minutes practice per week.

Optional practice logs will be provided.

About Ms. April

I started piano lessons at the age of 5 and have been passionate about music ever since!

I have 20 years of teaching experience in K-12 Music classrooms, including General Music, Music Theory, Music History, Ukulele, Band, Choir and Recorder group classes, in addition to private ukulele and piano lessons.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Master's degree in Music. I am currently K-12 Music certified.

I have been teaching virtual music classes for a small private school as well as online piano and zoom lessons since Covid, so I have experience with online teaching and learning.

I learned to play the ukulele while living on the beautiful island of Guam, where I lived for 18 years. My ukulele, which I named "Marvin", was handcrafted in Hawaii. I currently live in New York state with my husband, son, Basset Hound, cat and 5 goldfish!

I teach 1:1 piano and ukulele lessons for all levels of students, aged 7+

I also have several other ukulele self-paced classes, including 30 lesson semester classes (Ukulele 101, Ukulele 102) and shorter 4 lesson song classes (Surf, Wipe Out and Happy Birthday).

I'm a certified EA for Indiana, Indiana, Utah and Wyoming. I'm also an Education Service Provider for the Children's Scholarship Fund New Hampshire and the West Virginia Hope Scholarship. I'm in the process of becoming a vendor for other ESA programs as well. If you have funds available for a specific ESA, let me know and I will work on getting certified so your child's lessons will be paid for!

I look forward to teaching you or your child to play piano or ukulele!
